Mental Health & Wellbeing
Our intention is that when children leave St. Anne’s, they will do so with the knowledge, understanding and emotions to be able to play an active, positive and successful role in today’s diverse society. We want our children to have high aspirations, a belief in themselves and realise that anything is possible if they put their mind to it.
In an ever–changing world, it is important that they are aware, to an appropriate level, of different factors which will affect their world and that they learn how to deal with these so that they have good mental health and well-being.
- Whole school themes are explored during key stage assemblies such as, our school values, wellbeing, E-Safety, Zones of regulation and healthy living.
- As a school we celebrate Healthy Living and Mental Health Week in June, where all children in the school take part in different physical activities and take part in class activities related to mental health.
- We participate in Anti-Bullying week each year in November and all classes take part in activities related to the yearly theme from the Anti-Bullying Alliance.
World Mental Health Day 2024
On Thursday 10th October, all classes are invited to wear mufti. They may wear any outfit that makes them happy. Please note that although we want the children to express themselves, the outfit does need to be appropriate for school activities and some items are not permitted. These include dangling earrings, high heels and props that could be lost or would disrupt learning (such as swords).
This is an awareness day and not for fundraising purposes, so the children do not need to bring money.
During the day, classes will be taking part in an art activity and talking about looking after their mental health and wellbeing. The children will come home with a ‘Wellbeing Bingo’ activity which we hope will prompt discussions around looking after their wellbeing at home.
Wellbeing Champions will also be running games in the playground during the week to facilitate children connecting with each other. The poster above was created by the Wellbeing Champions.

Zones of Regulation
This is an approach to help children self-regulate their emotions and therefore have greater self-control. This is being rolled out throughout the school. The aim is for children to know the 4 different colours and which feeling words are associated with each colour.
